« It’s a vicious circle the Canadian handball is currently struggling with. The state only gives financial aid to top sports – and
according to the opinion of the decision makers, handball is not among these top sports. And therefore the Canadian team and their coach, Agrane Salaheddine, were forced to pay the expenses of their trip to Europe on their own. And it has been a long journey. It started off with the Junior Championships in Canada and then continued with the Pan American Junior Championships in April 2011, where the Canadian team was ranked 2nd and therefore qualified for the WCh. And now the long journey culminates in their attendance at the WCh in Europe. “The costs per player amount to 8000 Euros”, explains Roger Naoum, who is very proud of his team. »
